Lilly is seeking an Associate Director, Special Investigations to lead investigations into frauds, knockoff medicines, and other civil and criminal violations as part of Lilly Legal’s newly created, cross-functional Special Investigations Unit. This position will report to the Associate Vice President, Assistant General Counsel – Special Investigations. The role will be an integral part of Lilly’s efforts to combat financial and healthcare fraud, the illicit distribution of counterfeit and substandard drugs, theft and diversion of Lilly products, and related civil and criminal violations. In this role, you will lead, develop, manage, and assess investigations. Additionally, this role will support internal partners, regulators, and law enforcement. The successful candidate will have a global view, as well as experience interacting with a broad workforce in an international setting. Key Responsibilities May Include: Contribute successfully to a cross-functional team of legal and investigative professionals, using highly effective interpersonal skills. Work with business partners to create strategies for proactively combating fraud and the illicit distribution of knockoff drugs, and for promoting brand protection. Work collaboratively with lawyers, forensic laboratory analysts, and data experts to initiate, advance, and conclude investigations. Identify new avenues for investigations, using cutting-edge forensic technology and software, and continuously monitor channels for new violations. Partner with outside counsel, investigators, and law enforcement globally on investigations and any resulting actions. Identify and develop collaborative relationships with vendors, key external experts, and investigators. Throughout all assignments and investigations, maintain company confidential information, use discretion in conducting sensitive investigations, comply with all national and local laws, and preserve all applicable privileges. Perform detailed data entry and documentation of reports within an internal case management system. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Ten years investigative, intelligence, and case management experience in a national/federal, state, or municipal law enforcement agency and/or experience leading investigations in, or as an outside advisor for, large, complex global organizations. Experience conducting complex transnational, cyber, intellectual property, drug, and/or financial crime investigations. Possession and maintenance of a valid U.S. passport, and the ability to travel internationally outside the U.S. Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Additional Skills/Preferences: Experience supporting incident and crisis management communications and protocols. Experience using investigative technology, platforms, tools, and analytics. Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop investigative information of value through multiple sources, to synthesize information into well-founded conclusions, and to present recommendations in a clear and concise manner. Fluency in data analysis, including in healthcare fraud investigations. Experience leading investigations into violations of the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and/or federal healthcare fraud investigations. Proven track record of executing complex casework resulting in successful outcomes. Ability to establish positive relationships and effectively confer with law enforcement, regulatory, and prosecutorial agencies. Proficiency in accurately and thoroughly documenting investigative results. Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision. Ability to interact successfully with people of varied backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities. Experience working directly with attorneys on investigation-related actions, including civil litigation and criminal actions (e.g., depositions, case-building/discovery, testifying in court). Experience developing and implementing remediation and prevention programs and protocols. Master’s degree. The anticipated wage for this position is $122,250 - $179,300 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
