IMMI is seeking a highly motivated Application Product Engineer to join its Westfield team. The Application Product Engineer is the leading technical expert responsible for serving the customer by optimizing IMMI product systems for unique vehicle safety applications. The individual should have extensive knowledge of automotive safety product subassemblies and global occupant restraint safety standards. The customer-focused role supports product implementation from concept to production launch as driven by design, quality, process, or cost needs. The candidate will lead all technical aspects of the inquiry-to-order process including BOM definition, validation testing, sample development, customer communication, and drawing release.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Follow IMMI, customer, and industry requirements to design safety restraint solutions for various on-highway and off-highway vehicle applications
  • Use prototyping facilities to create product samples for internal testing and vehicle fit up validation
  • Utilize the APQP framework and other engineering best practices to optimize product solutions
  • Create and oversee test plans to validate all product requirements for expected static and dynamic operating environments
  • Manage engineering deliverables efficiently and effectively for multiple projects at a time from initial customer inquiry to start of production
  • Work closely with senior sales team members and product line managers to prioritize projects in accordance with the strategic plans of the company
  • Work closely with team members to continuously improve processes and standards, providing front-line quality management through problem solving and a go to Gemba approach QUALIFICATIONS
    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field and minimum of 3 years in automotive product development role
    • Experienced in mechanism design including seat belt buckles, retractors, pyrotechnical restraint applications
    • Knowledge of metal stamping and plastic injection molding tooling and processes
    • Extensive knowledge of AIAG core tools
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and train other engineers
    • Proficient in 3D CAD software for system design; advanced Solidworks experience preferred
