Within Allison's Innovation Research and Development group, there are numerous ways to learn and contribute as we develop propulsion solutions that meet the needs OEMs and end users. Work involves supporting the invention and development of robust propulsion and system solutions that our customers value: including component research and vehicle integration, product development planning and execution, defining build and test requirements, analyzing data, summarizing and reporting results, and making presentations to management. Responsibilities Include: Develop understanding of new and innovative product technologies and their integration into Electric Vehicles Develop component and sub-system test plans: determine experimental test and analytical methods and requirements that confirm or determine product requirements and specifications Author requests and support development activities with in-house and/or external build and test resources, and with analytical evaluations at component, sub-system and vehicle levels Assess test and analytical results to qualify product performance, draw conclusions and determine necessary product changes or trade-offs Support identification of product risks and further development activities to mitigate risks, resolve findings or improve designs Utilize 3D CAD tools to develop or assess product designs and integration with vehicle applications Provide engineering technical support to transfer knowledge to production product development teams, OEMs and end users Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required: BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Experience in product engineering role Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, schematics and drawings Ability to use common measurement tools and techniques Mechanical or Electrical design aptitude Proficient in written and verbal skills. Good communication skills Preferred: Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation and components Experience with electric vehicle operation and components: electric machines, power electronics, etc Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license Experience with CAN based electronic controls and controller diagnostic tools Equal Opportunity Statement: Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
