Director, Manufacturing: Basic Function:

  • Coordinate the day to day activities of employees and remove obstacles (process, policy, or physical) that restrict safe, efficient production
  • Develop teams and implement and monitor processes for a production area
  • Ensure the safety of your team, the quality of your processes, improve uptime by maintenance of assets, and manage capacity to achieve on time delivery and increase productivity
  • Drive continuous improvement and enhance the team spirit through the application of lean tools. Reporting relationships: Reports to: VP, Operations Direct reports: Area Managers and/or Group Leaders across multiple shifts leading up to 6 supervisors and/or group leaders and up to 200 hourly employees. Objective and Overview:
    • Lead and teach to our lean vision using Duramark Core Values
    • Provide coaching to area managers and/or group leaders to help them become technically competent while also improving their capability to coach and motivate their team members (people leadership skills)
    • Take care of your team (payroll, safety audits, tiered meetings, recognition, and discipline)
    • Lead the tier 3 meeting for area, attend and report out in the tier 4 meeting with the VP of Operations
    • Deliver to your customer (maintain highest levels of on-time delivery through strong process adherence and in depth problem solving)
    • Improve your processes (develop solutions based on root cause analysis and implement action plans supported by documentation and training)
    • Participate in the site wide continuous improvement process by ensuring that a kaizen events are held in your area on a regular basis
    • Participate in meetings with the plant management team to establish goals and prioirties, improve alignment, communication, and coordination of resources
    • Audit your processes (equipment maintenance, standard work, safety and quality procedures, product routings and BOM, and material flow)
    • Make time to manage your agenda, follow up on commitments, and prepare for other activities Role Requirements: Education: Operations or engineering degree is preferred. Relevant experience and equivalent knowledge may be considered.Experience: 1 to 3 years supervisory experience in a production environment. Experience should include mixed production processes in a low volume, high product mix operation. The candidate should be familiar with safety programs, quality processes, production scheduling, and component drawings/routings. Position Competencies:
