Opportunity at Our Organization We are an academic health system
looking for a skilled anatomic pathologist with expertise in
surgical pathology and cytopathology to join our team at Arnett
Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. The role involves diagnosing
surgical and cytologic specimens, conducting intraoperative
consultations, performing fine needle aspirations (FNAs) with rapid
on-site evaluations (ROSE), participating in tumor boards, ensuring
quality assurance, and providing on-call support within a network
of 17 hospitals. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory
Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, in
collaboration with our organization, is eager to welcome an
anatomic pathologist proficient in surgical pathology and
cytopathology to our facility in Lafayette. We are open to
candidates with additional subspecialty expertise. Currently, our
pathology team at Arnett consists of two full-time anatomic
pathologists, and this position will increase our team to three.
This recruitment is part of a strategic initiative aimed at
accommodating the ongoing growth within our health system. Our
organization is dedicated to enhancing access to high-quality,
patient-focused care, with expanding opportunities at Arnett
Hospital. The facility provides a wide array of services, including
emergency, surgical, and specialized care, making advanced
healthcare more accessible for families in the area. Current
projects include the expansion of the Cancer Center at Arnett and
plans for a new hospital in West Lafayette. Arnett Hospital is
integrated into a larger network of 17 hospitals, supported by over
70 pathologists. While based in Lafayette, our pathologists benefit
from the expertise of subspecialized professionals at the IU Health
Central Pathology Laboratory in Indianapolis. This affiliation
allows the ideal candidate to work in a community setting while
enjoying the advantages of an academic pathology practice. Key
Responsibilities: Diagnose benign and malignant conditions,
including tumor grading and staging. Interpret intraoperative
consultations, such as frozen sections. Correlate histopathologic
findings with clinical, radiologic, and laboratory data. Prepare
and sign pathology reports accurately and promptly. Engage in
multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinical case discussions.
Ensure compliance with laboratory standards and quality assurance
(e.g., CAP, CLIA). Interpret cytologic specimens, including Pap
smears, FNAs, and body fluids. Provide diagnostic consultations to
clinicians and participate in multidisciplinary case reviews.
Perform and oversee FNAs, including rapid on-site evaluations
(ROSE). Offer on-call coverage and support during conferences with
department faculty. Benefits: Competitive base salary that is not

Qualifications: A Doctorate or terminal degree (MD, DO, or
equivalent) is required. Board certification in Anatomic Pathology
or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the American Board of
Pathology. Completion of a Surgical Pathology Fellowship or
equivalent experience. Completion of a Cytopathology Fellowship or
equivalent experience, along with board certification in
Cytopathology. Eligibility for medical licensure in Indiana.
