Job Summary

The Senior Safety & Apprentice Program Administration Specialist will be a seasoned professional contributor to the Energy & Utilities team working under limited supervision.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Recognizing and evaluating safe working conditions and conducting measurements as appropriate to provide options for minimizing or eliminating risks that impact people, property, and/or the environment.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally vertically and horizontally within the organization to drive safety and apprentice solutions to assigned areas of focus.
  • Providing direct partnership and hands on support to the E&U management.
  • Working to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational safety and training results within the skilled trades.
  • Managing and developing safety and apprenticeship processes.
  • Making significant improvements of safety and training processes to enhance a high level of performance for Energy & Utilities.
  • Working with both departments to produce a seamless safety program and develop apprentice programs.
  • Setting policies, procedures, and guidelines in regards to safety and training.
  • Coaching and reviewing the work of skilled trades employees.
  • Understanding the operation and decision-making processes with a keen interest in producing targeted and tangible results by creating a safe, effective and efficient workforce.

    Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Environmental, Health, Safety, Training, Development or closely related field
    • Five years' experience in a safety or training role, preferably within an industrial environment
    • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Superb record of accomplishment in developing and executing successful training programs
    • Critical thinker with innovative problem solving skills
    • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools
    • Familiar with traditional and modern training processes
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Strategic and creative mindset
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive training to employees, management and external contractors
    • Experience in writing policies and procedures
    • Critically evaluate work environments, processes, and worker demographics to recognize potential health risks
    • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple activities and initiatives
    • Demonstrated successful communication and negotiation skills in order to manage conflicting and/or multiple demands, including ability to present to various levels within an organization
    • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical skills to identify problems; recognizes symptoms, causes, and alternate solutions and makes

      Preferred:

      Certifications: OHST, COSHO, ASP, CSP, CPR, First Aid, AED Trainer certification, OSHA 30 HR training card in General Industry CFR 1910
