GENERAL SUMMARY
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw components of the highest quality, while obtaining the most competitive prices in the timeframe needed. General Vendor communications and multiple sourcing are also a part of this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
-- Responsible for determining component needs through Forecasting, Purchase Requisitions, as well as other departments requests.
-- Submits Purchase Orders based on determined needs.
-- Conducts bid proposals to evaluate pricing from multiple vendors to determine the most suitable vendor based on price, quality, delivery, etc.
-- Communication with Engineering on technical components.
-- Responsible for verification of receipt of goods into ERP and coordinating paperwork with Finance Department.
-- Coordinates component transitions with Engineering and Inventory Departments.
-- Track cost savings and increases on components and communicates those with Executive Management.
-- Research alternate suppliers and assist Engineering in coordinating testing and approval of components.
-- Responsible for reporting on inventory levels, on-time delivery, etc. of vendors.
-- Responsible for day-to-day communications with vendors.
-- Coordinates with Quality Control Dept on vendor quality issues and corrective action plans.
-- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS (include but are not limited to:)
-- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, stand, sit and walk. The employee must have the manual ability and dexterity to use a computer for prolonged periods of time, the cognitive, intellectual and mental functions necessary to handle more than one complex task at a time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to forty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet. This position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations; may handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously; and may occasionally handle absentee replacement on short notice. Position may require travel with overnight stays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-- Minimum Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field
-- Bachelor's degree preferred
-- Minimum 3 years of Purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
-- Excellent communication skills with external and internal contacts.
-- Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
-- Ability to use company ERP, Microsoft applications, and other misc software.
-- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
-- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
