responsible for the repair and maintenance of customer equipment,
company owned equipment and equipment covered under
warranty.RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities of the
Fire/Emergency Vehicle TechnicianComplete repairs and perform
maintenance on Company fleetComplete repairs on customer equipment
in a timely mannerBuilds knowledge of dealer supported product
lines, service standards, and procedures and keeps abreast of all
changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the
distributorPerform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency
and accuracy, in accordance with Service shop and Factory
standardsHave the ability to perform occasional service calls and
overtime workPerform basic field repair and maintenance jobs with
minimal supervisionBasic testing knowledge of all machine
systemsFollow all company safety policies and proceduresDevelops
and employs diagnostic related reasoning skillsExamine the
equipment to determine if additional safety related or service work
is requiredAssists in the collection of data necessary for
efficient inventory controlAttends local, regional, national
service schools and training sessions as requestedMaintains a
clean, orderly, and safe working environment both in shop and at
customer job sitesMaintains and cares for shop tools, equipment,
and vehiclesCompletes all paperwork required for jobsKeep abreast
of factory technical bulletinsMaintains close, positive working
relationships with service, parts and administrative
personnelConducts himself / herself in the presence of customers in
a manner which will retain a good opinion of the company and the
service departmentPerforms as directed by the Service
ManagementResponsible for operating heavy equipment and trucks in a
safe mannerFollow all company safety policies and
proceduresUnderstand and follow federal, state and local
regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous
wastesRequirementsNature and Scope of PositionSkills and Experience
of the Fire/Emergency Vehicle TechnicianMinimum 2-year Diesel
Technology, Automotive Technology or Heavy Equipment Technology
degree or equivalent experience5 years of experience working on
hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems on heavy or
emergency/fire equipment preferredWelding and cutting torch
experienceHas or has ability to obtain a basic tool setHigh school
diploma or equivalent or technical school graduateAbility to read
and comprehend instructions and informationWorks in an efficient
and effective mannerOrganizational skills with ability to
effectively manage multiple projectsMust have excellent external
and internal customer service skillsContributes to departmental and
product line goalsMust be personable, highly motivated, a problem
solver, reliable, ethical and able to adapt to all forces around
them from customers, suppliers, coworkers and manufacturersBe
authorized to work in the USARequires prolonged standing with
periodic lifting, walking, standing, bending, stooping and
