Research unit (CMR) of Eli Lilly and Company focuses on the
discovery of biologic, small molecule, and genetic therapeutics for
the treatment of diabetes, obesity, and associated complications.
The CMR group is searching for an in vivo biologist with strong in
vivo background and complementary wet laboratory experience to play
a critical role in supporting end-to-end discovery efforts and
established pipeline projects with an emphasis on anti-obesity
therapeutics. The applicant must be a task-oriented and
self-motivated worker capable of conducting detailed research
protocols with limited supervision. He/she must have proven record
of experimental use of various small animal handling and surgery
techniques, strong written and oral communication skills, and be
able to work in team-oriented environment. Responsibilities: Plan
and independently carry out experiments in rodent models to support
preclinical characterization and evaluation of targets/pathways
that regulate energy metabolism and food intake. General small
animal handling, dosing (p.o, i.v., i.m., s.c. and i.p.), animal
perfusion, and tissue harvesting. Metabolic profiling assays:
insulin and glucose tolerance tests, body composition, indirect
calorimetry. Surgical expertise in small rodent models (i.e.
subcutaneous and intraperitoneal mini-pump insertion in mice and
rats, and surgical dosing i.e. brain stereotactic injection).
Hands-on experience in molecular and biochemical assays including
tissue DNA/RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, western blot, ELISA, and
immunohistochemistry. Requirement for accurate record keeping,
independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and
oral formats. The work shall be performed in full compliance with
Lilly Research Policies and complete all required training
activities in the timeframe specified. Basic Requirements:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in biology, pharmacology or a related
field with hands on experience conducting in vivo experiments.
Experience with small animal handling/dosing and small animal
surgeries This role is a full-time position, but a weekend
rotational assignment is required as part of this flex time
position. Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the
United States on a full-time basis . Lilly will not provide support

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $65,250 -
$169,400 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
